Mister Freedom Californian Lot 64 Jeans - Midnight Denim
Mister Freedom Lot. 64 Midnight 16oz - A Competition-Built Journey This pair of was purchased in July 2020 with one goal in mind: competition fades. The jeans were dedicated solely to two fade competitions: 1) Indigo Invitational Fade Competition Year 2 (1 October 2020 - 30 September 2021) 2) MyDenim Fade Competition 2020 (1 October 2020 - 30 September 2021) Throughout the entire competition period, I kept the washing to an absolute minimum. Only three washes were performed: 1) First wash (Sea Wash) - delayed until the 9th month of wear. 2) Second wash (Hand Wash) - one month after the sea wash. 3) Third wash (Hand Wash) - on the final day of the competition. The long wait before the first wash allowed the denim to develop strong contrast and character, while the sea wash gave it a unique chapter in its fading journey. Every crease, stack, and high-wear area was earned through daily use during the competition period. The results exceeded my expectations. This pair was selected as a Top 20 Finalist in the Indigo Invitational Year 2 Fade Competition and achieved 3rd Place in the MyDenim Fade Competition 2020. After the competitions ended, the Lot. 64 was no longer treated as a competition pair. It entered my regular denim rotation and has been worn only occasionally over the years. Since then, it has received numerous washes, though I never kept track of the exact count. The fades have continued to evolve naturally, becoming softer and more personal with time. One thing that has always intrigued me about the Lot. 64 Midnight is how rarely faded examples appear. Despite years of searching, I have yet to find many well-documented pairs from other faders around the globe. I'd love to see how this denim has aged in different environments, lifestyles, and hands. Until then, this pair stands as my own interpretation of what a well-worn Mister Freedom Lot. 64 Midnight can become.
