Levi’s Vintage Clothing LVC 501 1966
worn 365 days · fading since 1 Oct 2023
Man, what a pair! These 1966 501s were everything I had hoped for and more! I knew I had wanted to try my hand at vintage fades and I just knew this pair was gonna be a stellar candidate for that so I committed and knew I was gonna give this pair the good smell treatment and treat them similarly to what I would any other piece of clothing. So I did just that. I tub soaked them for fitting and then 22 days in they had their first soak. Soaks happened every week or so after that point. After 125 wears the stink was setting in and the soaks became full on machine washes that were every week or multiple times a week depending on how much I sweat in them. The damages all came naturally and were repaired and (re)repaired as needed and I learned a lot and began to really enjoy sashiko repairs! Honestly this pair drastically change the way I fade and the way I smell! I learned so much! I think the most notable thing I learned was that frequent washes don’t really matter(ish), the fades will still happen! See my phone fades for example; I switched to a smaller phone half way through and you can see the difference in the fades! I always thought that once you wash the fade lines are set and won’t change, that’s just not the case and it really helped me realize that we can wash our jeans, smell good, and fade!!! This pair also gave me a huge appreciation for those that fade vintage fades and do it well! You’d think you can just wash wash wash but it takes more than that, it takes care, wear, and dedication! So cheers fam!
